Back in 1984 when our inaugural flight VS1 departed to Newark, it was our simple ambition to provide the highest quality service at excellent value prices. We clearly did something right. Today we employ over 9000 staff, and we annually fly over six million passengers to 30 of the world’s most amazing destinations. Our 38 aircraft are one of the youngest fleets in the sky, and we have even more on order.

It was always our aim not to be the biggest but the best. Our innovations include being the first airline to introduce individual TV’s, and the first to introduce a Premium Economy cabin. Our pioneering spirit continues, as we strive to enhance our products and services with creative, imaginative ideas, new routes and frequencies, and technological innovations.

In 2010, we’ve won a number of prestigious awards including the British Travel Awards Airline of the Year 2010 and the Travel Weekly Globe Award for Best Scheduled Airline to US/Canada. We are also the only airline to be recognised in the CoolBrands index, an annual initiative to recognise, and pay tribute, to the nations coolest brands.

Economy Class

Virgin Atlantic Economy offers a relaxed and enjoyable journey to 33 of the world’s favourite destinations, for a great value price. Even the formalities are easy. Check in online, choose your seat, print out your boarding card, drop off your bags and head to the gate. Once onboard, you can look forward to a great in-flight experience. Your comfortable seat has a 31 inch seat pitch plus adjustable headrest. If you’d like more space, you can upgrade to their extra legroom or exit row seats, and really stretch out.

When it’s time to dine, choose from three mains, including a vegetarian option, plus complimentary drinks and snacks are served throughout your flight. Enjoy the latest and greatest in-flight entertainment on your personal seatback screen, including award winning movies, TV shows, music and games. And on all flights departing the UK, you’ll be offered a complimentary newspaper. Your personal amenity kit has everything you need for an enjoyable flight, including a toothbrush and toothpaste, earplugs, socks, eyeshades and a pen.

There’s kids meals available on request, a kids in-flight entertainment channel, and the K-id pack, full of all sorts of goodies to help their flight fly by. Premium Economy

Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy is packed full of all those little extras that make flying fun. On checking in, you’ll enjoy their dedicated Premium Economy check in, for a much smoother journey through the airport. You’ll board first, and they’ll say hello with a glass of something lovely, and a complimentary newspaper. Your Premium Economy seat is ergonomically designed and has a width of 21 inches, which is the same as many other airlines business class seats. Covered in soft purple leather, the seat is extra luxurious, with 38 fabulous inches of legroom, so you can really stretch out and unwind. It’s really nice to sleep in too.

If you’re feeling a bit peckish, you have your choice of three delicious mains, including a vegetarian option, all served on china with stainless steel cutlery. After dinner, they’ll offer you a liqueur, and, for a snack, a choice of fruit from their fruit bowl, or a cheeky ice cream or two while you watch a movie. There’s in-seat laptop power to charge your iPod, and when you arrive, you’ll be one of the first off the plane, and as your bags have priority tags, they’ll be first off the plane too. Plus, if you’re a member of their Flying Club programme, you’ll get 150% of mileage flown, so you’ll be heading away on your next trip before you know it.

Upper Class

Whether you want to sleep, eat or chill out, Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is a spectacular way to travel. From the moment we collect you in one of our chauffeur driven cars, you’ll enjoy a journey that’s been tailored to ensure you arrive at your destination refreshed and feeling good. If you’re departing from Heathrow Terminal 3, enjoy our Upper Class Wing, with Drive Thru Check-In, a private security channel, and our award winning Heathrow Clubhouse. Whatever your mood, there’s a space to suit, and delicious food and drinks.

We have Clubhouses at destinations across the globe. Each is individual, and the perfect pre-flight experience. When you board your flight, look forward to your Upper Class Suite, and attentive, friendly service from our Cabin Crew. Your suite not only converts from a gloriously comfortable seat to the longest fully flat bed in business class, but you can also invite a fellow passenger to join you for a bite to eat. With our freedom menu, order what you want, when you want from our delicious selection of gourmet meals and snacks. Take a seat at our onboard bar, relax with your favourite drink, and make new friends.

You can enjoy over 300 hours of award winning entertainment on your 10.4” personal TV, or if you’d rather sleep, the combination of our snooze pack, snooze suit and soft cotton linen means you’ll be asleep in no time. It’s easy to see why Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is a great way to travel.

We continue to monitor the direction of the ash cloud and liaise with UK National Air Traffic Services (NATS), the Civil Aviation Authority and the Met Office however, the eruption of Volcano Grimsvotn is not affecting our flying programme and we would like to reassure our passengers that all of our flights are currently operating as scheduled. We would also like to emphasise that the safety and security of our passengers and staff is our number one priority. The 'ash' event of 2010 resulted in much of UK and European airspace being completely closed, resulting in mass cancellations of flights across the board. However, since then industry understanding has improved greatly and we are optimistic that the ash cloud will have little or no affect on our schedules over the next few days.
