Language - the main language in Bali is Bahasa Indonesia but English is also spoken.

Banks & Money Changing facilities - the local currency in Bali is Indonesian Rupiah with an exchange rate of 16,500IDR = £1 (as of 01 April 06). Most foreign currencies are easily changed at banks, hotels or money changers. Banking hours are from 8.00am to 14.00 noon Mondays to Fridays, and from 8.00am to 11.00am on Saturdays. Bank in Hotels usually stay open longer hours while Money Changers are generally open till evening. ATM is available in many places, provides VISA, MASTER, ALTO and more.

Electricity - the electrical current for Bali is 220 Volt, 50 cycles. Plugs have two prongs of the European Variety

Postal Services - cards & letters can be sent in all hotels: contact the reception or concierge for stamps. For anything more complex, please ask your local guide for assistance.

Phoning Home - from Bali, this can be very expensive, so check the rates first. Most hotels now have international direct dialing. Once you have an outside line, dial 00 then the country code and then drop the 0 from the STD Code, for the UK Dial 00 44. Remember the time difference is 8 hours ahead of GMT (winter months) and 7 hours ahead of BST in the summer.

Visas and Passports - a valid 10 year British Passport is required with at least 6 months left on your return date. A British passport holder will require a visa, which can be issued on arrival at a cost of $25 per person and is valid for up to 30 days.
