Hua Hin
Nightlife - In the evenings go for a stroll and eat out at the local coastal restaurants built on stilts over the sea. Superb seafood prepared in the inimitable and legendary Thai way provides an unforgettable meal. Hua Hin offers relaxing nightlife mainly concentrated around excellent restaurants, local sidewalk café bard and a large number of lively bars where the drinks are cheap and the mood is relaxed and friendly.
Beaches - There is over 4km (2.5 miles) of beachfront within the resort of Hua Hin and its surrounds; plenty to keep most holidaymakers happy. There are stalls selling fresh seafood and drinks as well as sun loungers and sunbeds. A variety of watersports is also available. Hua Hin's beaches are a fun place for younger holidaymakers to hang out with a swim in the sea followed by a pony ride along the sands. There tends to be less surf here than in some Thai beach resorts with swimming usually safe all year round. Some hotels have dedicated facilities for children, including children's clubs and crèches.
Shopping - Souvenir shops can be found in the town of Hua Hin, mostly on Naret Damri road, Decha Nuchit road, Chomsin road, Damnoen Kasem road, and the nearby areas. Some best buys include the printed cotton and silk fabric called Khommaphat, woman accessories and housewares made of coconut shells, other handicrafts, dried seafood, pineapples, coconuts and a variety of processed fruits.
Cha Am
Cha Am is a typical Thai costal town and was founded to cater to Thai visitors. As a result of this seafood is fresh and cheap. Don't expect to be up too late on this costal resort as it closes early. Later night attractions are mainly confined to the hotels and resorts. The resort itself has only a hand full of small restaurants and bars. In the evenings you can either take a stroll and eat out at one of the local restaurants or you can dine at one of the hotels restaurants.
Beaches - This beautiful beach, twinned with Hua Hin of Phrachuap Khiri Khan, is located 40 kms. south of the town or 20 kms. north of Hua Hin, and another 2 kms. along an access road. Cha-am was originally a small fishing village. After a royal palace was built near Hua Hin in the reign of King Rama VI, the land was occupied by the royal family and the elite. The water's the place to be for those full of energy, enjoying water skiing, banana boats and jet skis or riding a bicycle along the 6-km road running in parallel with the beach is a charming activity of Cha-am. Sea food, Ice cold beer, Snack, Inexpensive accommodation adds to the attraction.Today, it is very popular among Thais who love superb seafood and comfortable hotel or bungalow accommodation.
Shopping - Aside from the usual souvenir items found all over Thailand Cha Am offers locally made dolls, ornaments, decorations crafted from sea shells and coconuts. Woven cloth know as "Kommapat" is unique to the area and make unusual gifts as do pineapple / coconut products, dried fruits and aloe vera.
