Nha Trang

With over 250 days of sunshine each year, some of the best hotels in Vietnam, miles of sandy beach and an ever increasing range of sports facilities, entertainment venues and nightlife, Nha Trang has plenty to offer all visitors. Holidaymakers determined to truly relax don't even need to move from the beach as a wide range of services will come to them in the form of cold drinks, souvenirs, manicures and massages. Those with a little more energy can explore the temples and the delightful offshore islands and then party the night away.

Nha Trang is located in Khanh Hoa Province, 450km (280 miles) north of Ho Chi Minh City. The South China Sea laps the resort'sshores with unspoilt offshore islands and coral reefs and a backdrop of mountains to the north and west. The city of Nha Trang has become more popular with the tourists in recent years. Yet, with a population of 300,000, Nha Trang still retains its small town atmosphere. This resort town is well known for its miles of beach and the friendliness of its people. The city is flanked by nearly ten kilometers of prime beach where the water is warm year round. The average temperature in Nha Trang is 26 C and also has the lowest level of humidity in all of Vietnam. Today, Nha Trang ranks among the top of all beaches in Vietnam.

The name Nha trang is a Vietnamese pronunciation of a Cham word Eatran or Yjatan. Ea or Yja means river, and tran means reed. According to the locals, there once were a lot of reeds along Ngoc Hoi river. The river winds its way through the town. Ngoc Hoi was later renamed Nha Trang river.
