This holiday offers a wonderful combination of the vibrant city of Bangkok together with a fascinating insight into the life and culture of Northern Thailand. The tour offers spectacular scenery, cultural and historical sites, takes in the border land of Laos and Burma (the famous "Golden Triangle") and provides a traditional view of Thailand that offers a wonderful contrast to the pace of modern life.
Day 1 Arrival Bangkok
On arrival in Bangkok you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 Bangkok – Bangkok Highlight Tour
Breakfast at hotel then start your tour combining the highlights of Bangkok City, you will visit Wat Trimitr, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. Take a ride through the amazing klongs (canals) of Bangkok on a longtailed boat. Then board a converted Rice Barge for a cruise on the bigger canals.

Day 3 Bangkok – Chiang Mai
Breakfast at hotel then you will be picked up and transferred to the airport for your short flight to Chiang Mai. Transfer from Chiang Mai airport to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city of Chiang Mai and the famous night market.

Day 4 Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son
From Chiang Mai, you will drive along a winding road through spectacular jungled mountains, via the Pai Valley, to Mae Hong Son province. Stops along the way include an Orchid Farm. Picnic lunch will be provided. Before arriving Mae Hong Son, you will stop on the way to visit Fish Cave where large fresh water fish live in a mountainside pool. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 5 Long Neck Karen Village
Today you ride through the jungle on elephants. Then you will drive in a "pick-up" mini truck through the jungle to visit the “Long Neck” Karen Padaung Village. The Karen Padaung women wear numerous brass coils round their necks and legs Lunch is included before taking a boat trip on Pai River, and then heading back to Mae Hong Son. Day 6 Mae Hong Son–Chiang Mai
Today, you will visit the early morning fresh market and witness the traditional Buddhist offering. Afterwards, sightseeing of Burmese temples on the lakeside, Wat Nong Jong Kam and Wat Jong Klang and a drive up to visit Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kongmoo on the mountain top with breathtaking views of this sleepy town. You will then take a short mid-day flight from Mae Hong Son to Chiang Mai. Tonight, you will be treated to a northern Thai style Khantoke dinner while you watch elegant dancers performing traditional Thai
Dancing.

Day 7 Chiang Mai
A full day to enjoy the delights of Chiang Mai and in the morning it will be your turn to work! Climb 290 steps to visit the Hilltop Temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep which offers spectacular views of the Chiang Rai area. Lunch will be at a local restaurant before continuing to the district of Sankampaeng, home to Chiang Mai's famous handicraft industries. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 8 Chiang Mai–Hill Tribes–Chiang Rai
This morning, you will drive north to Chiang Rai through mountain scenery Mae Ka Chan, famous for a hot spring. You will arrive Chiang Rai around noon and have lunch. After lunch, transfer to 'pick-up' truck to climb the narrow mountain roads and enjoy great views from Doi Mae Salong, a Chinese settlement founded by Kuomintang soldier. Stops are included at Akha and Yao Hill tribe villages. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 9 Golden Triangle–Mae Sai You begin today by driving to Mae Sai, Thailand's northernmost town on the Myanmar border. There is possibility for an optional Myanmar Border crossing subject to border situation. (You will require two photocopies of your passport along with border pass fee if it is possible to cross into Burma). Next visit the renowned Golden Triangle where you can stand on the hilltop and enjoy views over Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and the mighty Mekong River. After this you will drive along the Mekong.
River to Chiang Saen, where evidence of the original 13th century city can still be seen. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 10 Depart Chiang Rai
Transfer to Chiang Rai Airport for flight home to the UK or choose to extend your stay.
