  • Beyond Los Angeles - Riverside County

Riverside County and neighbouring San Bernadino are the gateways to Southern California's deserts and mountains. To the north, towering along the aptly named Rim of the World Scenic Byway, are the alpine communities of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake, where you can ski or snowboard in winter and fish or sail in summer. To the south, a mountain range away, is the art community of Idyllwild. And in between are a number of quiet little foothill communities - Oak Glen among them - where you can pick your own raspberries in late summer and apples in the fall.Today you can learn about the influence of citrus on the development of the state at California Citrus State Historic Park in Riverside. Farther south, around Temecula, the agrarion tradition thrives. Here you will find farmers' markets and a local olive oil company, as well as award-winning wineries and wine tasting.
