Salt Water Fishing on Long Island
Due to Long Island's location, fishermen will readily find both northern species from cooler waters and southern species from warmer climates. Fiesty bluefish are often caught along the island's Atlantic coast, especially in the late summer and early fall. Other saltwater fish such as Atlantic cod, summer flounder, and Spanish mackerel also abound. Try Manhasset Bay, where you can kayak along the North shore of Long Island to catch some of the largest bluefish around.

Carp Angling on the St. Lawrence River
The St.Lawrence river, in the Thousand Island-Seaway region, is known as a major world carp angling destination. New York State's carp is known for being hard fighting huge fish. Carp angling is available throughout the state and no day fees are required.

Thousand Island Fishing
Sport fishermen from all over travel to the Thousand Islands to fish among its waters. Famous for northern pike, black bass, pickerel, perch, bullhead, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye pike, and muskellunge, here you will find some of the greatest fresh water sport fishing in the world. Stay in one of the many quaint fishing towns located along the St. Lawrence River.

Keuka Lake, Finger Lakes Region
Keuka Lake's 96 km shoreline boasts some of the best bass and northern pike fishing in the Finger Lakes region. Surrounded by numerous wineries, Keuka Lake State Park has swimming beaches, boat launches, and picnic grounds, as well as seasonal campgrounds.

Lake Ontario
Lake Ontario, spanning accross western New York State and into Ontario, Canada, is well-known for its abundance and variety of salmon and trout. Other species include bass, walleye, and perch. It's a rich haven and rewarding fishing for the child, amateur and professional fisherman. The Lakeside Beach State Park, recently named one of the top campgrounds in the country offers a panoramic view of the lake boasting several kilometres of hiking and biking trails, picnic grounds, and, of course prime fishing spots.

Delaware River, The Catskills region
Come springtime, the Delaware River witnesses one of the largest migration of shad and striped bass in the Eastern U.S. Schools of fish swarm the river to begin their spawn. Start at the town of Hancock, where East and West branches of the Delaware meet.

Ice Fishing in the Niagara River
The Niagara River is considered one of the winter hot spots for ice-fishing. Head to Fort Niagara State Park, where you will find steelhead brown trout, lake trout, and a variety of other species. Visit the nearby whirlpools of the river or head to the world-famous Niagara Falls, or bring your snowshoes or cross country skis along.

Black Lake
Located approximately 2 hours north of Syracuse in the Thousand Islands Seaway region, Black Lake is a natural, glacier lake formed by the same ancient glacier that carved out the Great Lakes. Over 60 miles of shoreline along with numerous islands offer anglers all kinds of ideal fish habitats from rocky points and shoals, to sandbars, weed beds, shallows, and water up to 15 metres deep. The Indian Head Point Fishing Resort, along the lakefront, has six roomy cottages, a swimming beach, and within a close drive the rocky inlets and islands of the St. Lawrence River.
