Day 1 - Siem Reap

Upon arrival into Siem Reap you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  In the afternoon you will explore the Khmer Temples from the early Angkor period.  Visit the roluos group of temples dating from the 9th and 10th century, including Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei temples.  You will return to the hotel in the early evening.

Day 2 - Siem Reap

This morning you will begin an exploration of the ancient city by entering Angkor Thom via the South Gate.  Continue with the ruins at Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Royal Palace, the Elephant Terraces and the Leper King Terrace.  In the afternoon visit magnificent Angkor Wat with its extraordinary architecture and bas-reliefs.  End the day with a spectacular sunset view from the top of the mountain temple of Phnom Bakheng.

Day 3 - Siem Reap - Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, you will proceed to the graceful 11th century Temple of Shiva - Banteay Srei.  On the way back, view the impressive Ta Prohm Temple, which remains in the clutches of the enveloping jungle. Later on you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City.  Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation where the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City

Breakfast at the hotel drive to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels outside Ho Chi Minh City.  During the war "Viet Cong" guerrillas built this labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide in during the bombing raids and as a base to launch surprise attacks.  Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half day city tour including the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office and Ben Thanh market.

Day 5 - Ho Chi Minh City - Danang - Hoi An

Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the airport for your flight to Danang.  On arrival you will be met and transferred to Hoi An.  In the afternoon take a walking tour of this quaint town, visiting ancient merchants houses, a Hokkien temple, the 400 year old Japanese Covered Bridge, and the colorful riverside market.  Finish the day with a sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 6 - Hoi An - My Son

Breakfast at the hotel then spend half a day travelling to the extraordinary ruins of My Son in a remote jungle valley.  My Son was formerly the centre of the Cham Kingdom and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Over 20 well-preserved monuments remain.  The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 7 - Hoi An - Hue

Breakfast at the hotel, then you will depart Hoi An for the ancient capital Hue.  This three-hour drive hugs the ocean's coastline, winding through emerald-green paddy fields and climbing up and over the dramatic Hai Van Mountain Pass before arriving in Hue.  Upon arrival, visit the Imperial Citadel and the elaborate tomb of Emperor Tu Duc.  Late afternoon, take a boat cruise through the centre of Hue on the romantic Perfume River.  Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda along the riverbank.

Day 8 - Hue - Dong Hoi - Phong Nga

Breakfast at the hotel, this morning you will take a drive to Dong Hoi where upon arrival you will check in.  Afternoon you will take a boat cruise to visit the Phong Nha cave, the largest and one of the most beautiful in all Vietnam and now the country's fifth UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  The cave forms part of the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park and contains excellent limestone formations, grottoes, cave and forest as well as several 1000m lus unexplored peaks.  Rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 9 - Dong Hoi - Hanoi

Breakfast at the hotel then the rest of the day is free at leisure before your transfer to the airport for the flight to Hanoi.  Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the hotel, where the rest of the evening is free at leisure.

Day 10 - Hanoi

Today you will undertake a full day city tour to explore the architecture and history of Hanoi.  In the morning, visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed Monday and friday year round and everyday from September to November), Ho Chi Minh's former residence, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature.  In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Fine Srts, the Lake of Restored Sword, Ngoc Son Temple and the Old Quarter.  The tour includes a stop at an ancient Vietnamese "Long House".  In the evening enjoy a puppet show - a remarkable Vietnamese art form that combines traditional music, fireworks, underwater puppeteers and elaborate puppets floating gracefully over the water.

Day 11 - Hanoi - Halong Bay - Hanoi

Breakfast at the hotel then you will depart early morning for Halong.  Upon arrival, transfer immediately to a private boat and begin a four-hour cruise through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Halong Bay.  Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on board before returning to Hanoi in late afternoon where the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 12 - Hanoi

Breakfast at the hotel then the rest of the day is free at leisure before your departure to the airport for your onward flight to the Uk.
