Hanoi - Halong Bay - Ninh Binh - Dong Hoi - Hue - Hoi An - Qui Nhon - Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta
Day 1 Hanoi Arrival
Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the morning is free. In the afternoon, take a one-hour cyclo ride through the old quarter to enjoy Hanois beautiful late-afternoon colours and to visit a traditional Vietnamese long house.

Day 2 Hanoi Sightseeing Bac Ninh Hanoi
After breakfast, visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex containing his Mausoleum, humble former home and the One Pillar Pagoda, followed by the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake and the bustling Old Quarter. Afternoon drive to Bac Ninh, the cradle of traditional Vietnamese music and theatre. On arrival, take a horse-drawn cart down country lanes to visit the Dinh Bang communal house and Do temple. Enjoy local folk songs before returning to Hanoi.

Day 3 Hanoi Ha Long Bay
Drive to Ha Long Bay. Board a refurbished wooden sailing junk for a cruise through the hundreds of islets of Ha Long Bay. Enjoy a seafood lunch and a swim (weather permitting). Afternoon visit to a grotto before dropping anchor for the night on Ha Long bay.

Day 4 Ha Long Bay Boat Cruise Water Puppetry Ninh Binh
Spend the morning cruising through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Ha Long Bay before arriving back at the wharf. In the afternoon, proceed through picturesque scenes of rice fields and rural life to a small village known as the birthplace of water puppetry in the Red River Delta. Witness the unique spectacle of an outdoor water puppet show while sampling local delicacies. Later, launch lanterns into the afternoon sky for good luck. Proceed to Ninh Binh for overnight.

Day 5 Ninh Binh Sightseeing
Drive to Van Long and on arrival enjoy a panoramic bicycle ride taking in paddy fields, pagodas, small hamlets and a village market. Next stop, Vuon Thi village to interact with the local people and participate in the activities of daily life. Discover the
lifestyle, hospitality and friendliness of the local people. Experience preparing lunch with a local family and then join them for a feast to remember. After lunch, stroll around the village and discover the traditional techniques used for growing rice and the local fishing methods. Even roll up the sleeves and join the farmers in the fields! Later on, experience the dramatic soaring limestone cliffs on a peaceful river boat cruise. Drive back to Ninh Binh, stopping enroute at Hoa Lu to visit temples dedicated to two ancient Vietnamese kings.

Day 6 Ninh Binh Dong Hoi
A full day driving to Dong Hoi. Arrive at Dong Hoi in the afternoon and then the evening is free.

Day 7 Dong Hoi Phong Nha Hue
In the morning, take a boat cruise to visit the Phong Nha cave, the largest and one of the most beautiful in all Vietnam and now the countrys fifth UNESCO-listed World Heritage site. The cave forms part of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and contains excellent limestone formations, grottoes, caves and forests as well as several 1,000m plus unexplored peaks. In the afternoon, proceed to Hue.

Day 8 Hue Sightseeing Hoi An
Morning boat cruise through the centre of Hue on the romantic Perfume River. Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda along the riverbank. Visit the Imperial Citadel and the elaborate tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Continue to Hoi An by car.

Day 9 Hoi An Sightseeing
Embark on a half-day walking tour of this quaint old town visiting ancient merchants houses, a Hokkien temple, a 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge and the vibrant, colourful riverside market. In the afternoon, visit a lantern workshop. Learn how the lanterns are made and have the opportunity to create your own. Finish the day with a sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 10 Hoi An Qui Nhon
In the morning, drive to Qui Nhon. Stop enroute at Sa Huynh Beach. Along the rest of the drive, view the daily life of rural villagers processing cassava, farming rice or weaving grass and visit the Banh It Cham Towers. Arrive in Qui Nhon late in the afternoon.

Day 11 Qui Nhon Nha Trang
The drive from Qui Nhon to Nha Trang passes through perhaps the most beautiful stretch of coastline in all of Vietnam. The range of colours and vistas along this coastal drive are unparalleled in Southeast Asia. Stop enroute at a Cham ruin near Tuy Hoa and at Dai Lanh Beach to enjoy the crystal clear, turquoise waters.

Day 12 Nha Trang Boat Cruise
Enjoy Nha Trangs azure waters and white sandy beaches. Take a morning boat cruise to offshore islands in Nha Trang Bay. Afternoon excursion to the Po Nagar Cham Towers, the Museum of Dr. Yersin and Nha Trang Cathedral. A visit to a local fish market is optional.

Day 13 Nha Trang Ho Chi Minh City
The coastal road continues as we drive from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City. Stop enroute to visit My Nghiep traditional weaving village in Phan Rang.

Day 14 Ho Chi Minh City Cu Chi Tunnels Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war Viet Cong guerrillas built this labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide in during bombing raids and as a base to launch surprise attacks. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half-day city tour. Visit the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Chinatown, Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Temple.

Day 15 Ho Chi Minh City Cai Be Bartering Vinh Long Can Tho
Drive to Cai Be and take a boat to the floating market to practice the age-old art of bartering. Use the sweets, sugar, milk, etc. that are supplied to barter for different kinds of local fruits and produce. Continue by river to see a family-run business producing rice paper and a local version of popcorn. Lunch in a local house, set in a fruit orchard and among bonsai trees, on Binh Hoa Phuoc islet. Drive to Can Tho.

Day 16 Can Tho Ho Chi Minh City
Morning boat cruise to visit Cai Rang floating market. The market is filled with small boats jostling through the water as vendors sell their wares. Cruise through narrow canals and stop at a fruit orchard to taste some of the succulent fruits of the region. Visit the Binh Thuy ancient house before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 17 Ho Chi Minh City Departure
The morning is free before transferring to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for departure. [Breakfast]
