Hanoi – Ha Long Bay – Hue – Hoi An – Nha Trang – Dalat – Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta

Day 1:Hanoi – Arrival

Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, take a one-hour cyclo ride through the old quarter to enjoy Hanoi’s beautiful late-afternoon colours and to visit a traditional Vietnamese “long house”. In the evening, watch a performance of the renowned water puppet theatre, an art whose origins date back over a thousand years.

Day 2:Hanoi – Sightseeing – Bac Ninh – Hanoi

Morning visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex containing the former leader’s Mausoleum, elevated house and the One Pillar Pagoda, followed by the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake and the bustling Old Quarter. Afternoon drive to Bac Ninh, the cradle of traditional Vietnamese music and theatre. On arrival, take a horse-drawn cart down country lanes to visit the Dinh Bang communal house and Do temple. Enjoy some local folk songs before proceeding to Ha Long Bay.

Day 3:Ha Long Bay – Boat Cruise – Hanoi

Morning boat cruise through magnificent Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-listed Natural World Heritage Site. Enjoy a seafood lunch onboard. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon, stopping enroute at a ceramics factory.

Day 4: Hanoi – Hue – Sightseeing

Fly to Hue, the former Imperial capital of Vietnam. Arrive in Hue and visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market. The spectacular Citadel is built on the same principles and design as Beijing's Forbidden City and contains a series of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences and colleges.

Day 5: Hue – Danang – Hoi An

Morning boat cruise on the romantic Perfume River. Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda on the riverbank and the elaborate tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Drive along the coast through emerald-green paddy fields and over the spectacular Hai Van Mountain pass. Transfer to hotel on arrival in the ancient port of Hoi An. The rest of the day is free.

Day 6: Hoi An – Sightseeing

Embark on a half-day walking tour of this quaint old town visiting ancient merchant’s houses, a Hokkien temple, a 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge and the vibrant riverside market. Afternoon trip to a lantern workshop to learn the techniques involved and then create your own. Finish the day with a sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 7: Hoi An – Qui Nhon

In the morning, drive to Qui Nhon. Stop enroute at Sa Huynh Beach. During the rest of the drive, view the daily life of rural villagers processing cassava, farming rice or weaving grass. Stop along the way at the Banh It Cham Towers. Arrive in Qui Nhon in late afternoon.

Day 8: Qui Nhon – Nha Trang

The drive from Qui Nhon to Nha Trang passes through perhaps the most beautiful stretch of coastline in all of Vietnam. The range of colours and vistas along this coastal drive are unparalleled in Southeast Asia. Stop enroute at a Cham ruin near Tuy Hoa and at Dai Lanh Beach to enjoy the crystal clear, turquoise waters.

Day 9: Nha Trang – Boat Cruise

Enjoy Nha Trang’s turquoise waters and white sandy beaches with a morning boat cruise to offshore islands in Nha Trang Bay. Afternoon excursion to the Po Nagar Cham Towers, the Museum of Dr. Yersin and Nha Trang Cathedral. A visit to a local fish market is optional.

Day 10: Nha Trang – Dalat

Early morning drive to Dalat hill station in the central highlands, stopping enroute to visit a hill tribe village (near Cau Ba – Khanh Vinh) and to admire the landscape at Hon Giao pass. Once in Dalat, visit the Dalat Cremaillere Railway, explore the summer residence of Bao Dai, Vietnam’s last emperor. In the evening, have dinner combined with a unique art: drawing by one finger at Art Café or My Town, a restaurant in Dalat’s city centre. OVERNIGHT IN DALAT. [Breakfast, Dinner]

Day 11: Dalat – Ho Chi Minh City

In the morning, explore Dalat’s colourful flower and vegetable market. Enjoy a horse-drawn cart ride around the Xuan Huong lake before visiting the Truc Lam Buddhist Monastery located above the serene Tuyen Lam Lake. Depart for Ho Chi Minh City, stopping enroute to visit tea and coffee plantations. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon.

Day 12: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels – Sightseeing

Drive to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war “Viet Cong” guerrillas built this labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide in during bombing raids and as a base to launch surprise attacks. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half-day city tour including the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Chinatown, Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Temple.

Day 13: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Ho Chi Minh City

Depart Ho Chi Minh City for the Mekong Delta. At My Tho, take a boat cruise along the river and a short walk to visit a handicraft workshop making products from coconut palms. Experience a horse-drawn cart ride to visit a local house to enjoy tea and taste some of the tropical fruits grown in the region. Float on a sampan through the narrow, tree-lined canals of the Mekong Delta. After lunch, visit a family-run business making coconut candies, before returning to My Tho. Visit the Vinh Trang pagoda if time permits. Return to Ho Chi Minh City by late afternoon.

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh City – Departure

The morning is free before transferring to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for departure.
