Follow Top Gears Tyre Tracks in Vietnam
This 11 day journey will take you along the same route as Clarkson, Hammondr & May did on their Top Gear Vietnam Special, the only difference is that you will be travelling in reliable planes, trains and automobiles.
Day 1 - Ho Chi Minh City
On Arrival at the airport you will be met and driven to your hotel of choice in the centre of the city, evening at leisure.
Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City
Morning journey out of the city centre to the Cu Chi regions, where you will visit the vast underground network of tunnels built first as a defence against the French and later expanded during the American War. Return to Saigon for half day city tour, visit the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, and Ben Thanh market, followed by dinner at a local families house.

Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh City - Dalat
Breakfast at the hotel, then you will depart northwards to the mountain town of Dalat and enjoy a visit to the waterfalls. In the evening, dine with your guide on Saigon Bia and enjoy some traditional Vietnamese food.

Day 4 - Dalat - Nha Trang
Breakfast at the hotel then spend the morning soaking up the local markets in this town and in the afternoon head down hill by private transfer to the coastal city of Nha Trang. For those who are keen you can organise bicycles for this part of the journey. On arrival in Nha Trang check into your hotel and enjoy this buzzing beach city.

Day 5 - Nha Trang - Danang - Hoi An
Breakfast at the hotel then enjoy Nha Trang's turquoise waters and white sandy beaches with a morning boat cruise to offshore islands in Nha Trang Bay for swimming and snorkelling. In the evening, board the night train to Danang.

Day 6 : Danang - Hoi An
Arrive at the crack of dawn into Danang and be met and transferred to Hoi An or as Clarkson refers to it 'Vietnam's Saville Row'. Spend the day here getting clothes made, souvenir shopping, relaxing on the beach and not having to worry about fixing your bike problems. Breakfast will be served at a local restaurant.

Day 7 - Hoi An - Hue
Breakfast at the hotel, then this morning is free to pick up clothes on 'Saville Row'. In the afternoon continue your journey north by private road transfer along the Hai Van Pass, which Clarkson praised as a 'deserted ribbon of perfection - one of the best coast roads in the world. On the way you will stop off at the marble mountains and Cham museum. On arrival in Hue you will check into your hotel and the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 8 - Hue - Hanoi
Breakfast at the hotel, this morning you will take a boat cruise on the romantic Perfume River. Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda on the riverbank and the elaborate tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market. The spectacular Citadel is built on the same principles and design as Beijing's Forbidden City and contains a series of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences and colleges. Transfer to airport for the flight to Hanoi, on arrival you will be picked up and transfer to the hotel, the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 9 - Hanoi - Halong Bay
Breakfast at the hotel then you will drive to Halong Bay for an overnight cruise on a traditional junk in this beautiful bay of 2000 islands. You will have opportunities to check out the floating villages, swim or kayak in the bay. In the evening, enjoy a glass of wine on the top deck whilst watching the sunset spend the night with only the lull of the waves to keep you awake.

Day 10 - Halong Bay - Hanoi
Rise early, enjoy a morning at leisure with breakfast. At midday you will be transferred back to Hanoi and in the evening enjoy a performance at the water puppet theatre followed by a local dinner washed down with local beers.

Day 11 - Hanoi
Breakfast at the hotel then you have a full day to explore Hanois illustrious history. In the morning,visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex containing his mausoleum, former residence and the One Pillar Pagoda. Also visit the Temple of Literature. In the afternoon you will visit the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and the 36 streets of the Old Quarter. In the evening transfer to the airport for your flight home.**Please note: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Monday, Friday and the period from September to November for annual maintenance.
