Thailand Wedding Scene

Thailand is a country entwined with romance. Exotic and alluring, it is a beautiful tropical paradise where love blossoms as colourfully as the orchid flowers that grow abundantly. It is the perfect idyllic destination to tie the knot of love and indulge in an extensively unique honeymoon that keep the seeds of your relationship burning bright for time immemorial.

Thailand is a breathtaking nirvana that star-crossed lovers will instantly call home. Blessed with diversity and variety, this ancient mystical land has it all - palm studded white sandy beaches, forested mountains cloaked in dawn mists, well preserved ruins of historic civilisations, not to mention the excitement of the capital Bangkok where old and modern blend in dramatic fashion.

While Thailand's pleasant year-round climate, arresting scenery and remarkable architecture are deservedly famous, its welcoming people and rich exuberant culture are equally fascinating. Arouse the senses and experience together the fabulous breadth or traditional customs, cuisine, music, dance and art.

Nestled in the heart of South East Asia, travellers have long considered Thailand as the gateway to Asia. The strategic position means that Thailand is a convenient aviation hub for visitors all over the world. Such easy access means that your wedding guests can arrive easily from all corners of the globe.

By choosing Thailand for your dream wedding and honeymoon, you can alleviate all those organisational and financial worries and strains. The nations reputation as "The Land of Smiles" is thoroughly deserved and your wedding and honeymoon in the captivating kingdom will keep you beaming with happy memories for years to come.

However grandiose or intimate occasion you have in mind, arranging your matrimonial celebration in this hospitable and affordable country will allow you significant savings. And while your budget will gladly stretch much further in this competitively priced nation, you can rest assured that the quality will be impeccable and the service you receive will be the warmest and most gracious ever given. The finite attention to detail that makes Thailand culture so special will also define your wedding experience as a highly individual occasion that will have your friends in awe and dry.

Thailand is predominantly Buddhist in belief and even if you are not of this religious persuasion, a matrimonial joining by auspicious amber-robed holy men is a unique and deeply spiritual blessing by which to begin the years of wedded fortitude. If a Buddhist ceremony doesnt suit your religious inclination, arranging a marriage to suit whatever persuasion will never be difficult. Whether your desire to be joined by a catholic priest or a simple civil ceremony we will ensure your marriage will be the most memorable day of your life.

Thailand Wedding Formalities

Guests are required to stay in Bangkok for around 4 days, we recommend that guests arrive on a Sunday in order to complete the legal documentation.

The marriage registration procedure in Bangkok is as follows:

  • Transfer to Consular Sector at British Embassy for signing their affidavit (Monday – Thursday)
  • Documents are then delivered to the translation office
  • Then transfer to Department of Consular Affairs to apply for legal registration
  • Next visit to the District Office for Marriage Registration and receive Thai marriage certificate
  • The process will take place on working days only (Exception Fridays)

Once the wedding formalities has been completed your wedding will be recognised in both Thailand and the UK where your documents will be sent to the General Registration Office in London which normally takes around 8-12 weeks.

Documents required:

  • Actual passport
  • Divorce certificate or Death certificate if having spouse
  • Proof of employment with salary certificate
  • Name and address 2 guarantors (maybe parents)
  • Parents name
  • Passport, Original of Absolute Decree/Death Certificate/Divorce Certificate, should be presented on the date of signing affidavit at Consular Section. However, we must receive a copy of all documents a few weeks prior to the actual registration service taking place, in order to check that we have all necessary details
  • In case the female partner has no longer than 310 days from a divorce date, you should produce a medical certificate from the Hospital on the marriage day to prove that she is NOT pregnant and is able to re-marry at District Office.

The cost of the above service to organise the legal requirements is £900 per couple
