Holidays to Phuket remain as popular as ever and it is easy to see why. Thailand's largest island is also its most popular destination for exotic beach holidays. Known as the 'Pearl of the Andaman'. With unspoiled beaches, mouth-watering cuisine, great value hotels, divine spas, entertainment and bargain shopping. Phuket is the ideal holiday location.
There are a lot of threads in Phuket’s tourism tapestry. The island is just off Thailand’s south-west coast and its capital, Phuket Town, is an animated city of early-morning markets and beeping tuk tuks.
The coastline, meanwhile, is home to a league of beaches – 40 kilometres’ worth to be exact. The quieter beaches tend to be in the north of the island and the resorts grow as you move further south. There is something for everyone depending on the type of resort that suits you best from the idyllic and peaceful to the traditional and lively.
Mao Kaow, Laguna and Surin Beach are quieter areas that keeps itself to itself. The unspoilt sand here is accompanied by a village with Thai tradition at its heart. At the other end of the scale you’ve got Patong Beach, it’s just footsteps away from a wide array of bars and restaurants. The middle ground is occupied by Kata, Karon and Kamala which offer a mix of sun-drenched beaches in the day and plenty of options in the night.
