Kentucky

Overview

  • Flight Time: 10 Hours
  • Time Zone: UTC -6:00
  • Best Time to Travel: April - October

There’s a reason we say “There’s Only One Kentucky.” Certainly, there’s only one Kentucky Derby, and only Kentucky can lay claim to being the Horse Capital of the World. Some 400 Thoroughbred horse farms around Lexington bear out this title.
There’s only one Kentucky, and it’s waiting for you to discover!

But there’s a great deal more that makes Kentucky unlike any other place in the world. Virtually all of the world’s bourbon is produced in Kentucky, and the distilleries that are in Bourbon Country, including those along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, offer distinctive tastes and tours.
Natural beauty here is unsurpassed. There’s only one Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, located in our spectacular western lakes region, and in the impressive eastern mountains you’ll find the rugged Red River Gorge, a magnet for hikers and rock climbers. Adding to the unparalleled outdoor adventure is Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave National Park, the world’s longest cave system.

History, arts and culture also distinguish the Bluegrass state. Kentucky is the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, leaders of the opposing sides in the American Civil War. Muhammad Ali and the father of Bluegrass music, Bill Monroe, also were born here.
