Comprised of nine granite islands located 50km west of Khao Lak, the Similan Islands are regarded among the world’s top 10 diving sites and one of the best snorkelling spots in Thailand. Remote, with an abundance of wildlife and colourful reefs protected by National Park status, the beaches here are well-preserved and washed by clear blue ocean waters.
Starting from Phuket or Khao Lak hotel, the journey begins with a short 1.5 hour cruise before arriving at the first stop, Honeymoon Bay at Koh Miang. Here, you are free to relax on the white sandy beach, swim in the clear waters and explore the island before any other boats arrive. Cruise around nearby neighbouring islands before mooring in Princess Bay, a beautiful, sheltered location for snorkelling or sunbathing on the spacious sundeck, followed by East of Eden reef near Koh Payu and immerse yourself in the colourful underwater world the Similan islands are famous for. Cruise up towards Koh Similan itself and stop for a delicious buffet lunch served on board. Visit Donald Duck Bay, famous for its amazing rock formations and stunning white sandy beach, and climb up to the Sail Rock viewpoint for a breath taking aerial panorama. Leave this spot as the crowds begin to arrive once more and head out to our last spot, Koh Ba Ngu, to see tropical fish and corals up close before returning to the pier.
The Similan Islands are part of Similan National Marine Park and are closed from 16 May to 14 October annually but are subject to change.
