Los Angeles "City of Angels" is as much an idea as it is a physical city and covers an area of 6500 square miles. With ten major shopping districts, an incredible variety of dance, music, theatre, theme parks, professional sporting events, television and motion picture production, L.A. is the undisputed "Entertainment Capital of the World". LA runs deeper than her blonde beaches, rolling hills and beemers-for-days would have you believe. She’s a myth. A beacon for countless small-town dreamers, rockers and risk-takers, an open-minded angel who encourages her people to live and let live without judgement or shame where it has given us the like of Quentin Tarantino, Jim Morrison and Serena Williams just to name a few.
Las Vegas is widely regarded as the Entertainment Capital of the World and remains one of the top holiday destinations for UK travellers. Set in the Mohave Desert, Las Vegas is famous for its opulent casino hotels, fantastic shows and of course its 24-hour entertainment and gambling. It's known as Sin City for good reason! Las Vegas has been inextricably associated with legendary shows and entertainers. Say "Las Vegas Holidays" and it's likely that showgirls in elaborate headdresses and Elvis impersonators will come to mind. In addition to the iconic Las Vegas entertainment staples, the destination offers a line-up of award-winning magicians, Broadway productions and world-renowned concert headlines. From elaborately themed nightclubs to the new wave of trendy, ultra-chic lounges sweeping the Strip - visitors know when they step out in Las Vegas, it will be an experience they won't forget!
Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona’s most distinguishable landmark – and a natural wonder that you simply must see to believe. Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep, rocky walls descend more than a mile to the canyon’s floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest. Many visitors utilize Flagstaff, a Ponderosa Pine-covered mountain town, as a gateway to the Grand Canyon. Other natural features include the saguaro cactus-filled Sonoran Desert and the rugged formations of Red Rock State Park.
Monument Valley is one of Utah’s most famous icons. Monument Valley looks like it did 300 years ago, which looked like it did 3,000 years ago, and undisturbed natural beauty. It’s vast, wild and sun-baked, with deep canyons and towering buttes variegating the desert plain. You’ll see the sky, bigger and bluer than you remembered. You’ll see the earth, red, rough and unpredictable. And you won’t see anything else. Monument Valley is what wind and water can make with enough time and creative license. Stand stranded at its centre, struck by astounding simplicity. It will never happen again.
However long your trip to Page is planned for, go ahead and double it – there’s that much to do.
Page should have packed up decades ago. See, the town was established in 1957 as a temporary work camp for builders of the Glen Canyon Dam, but the people stayed. And it’s jaw-droppingly easy to see why they set down roots: the spectacular red buttes and mesas set against cobalt skies, capped by miles of blue shoreline on Lake Powell.
Bryce City became Utah’s 244th incorporated city in July of 2007. Bryce is home to the world-famous Bryce Canyon National Park. Wind, water and time have eroded Bryce Canyon National Park's sandstone cliffs into otherworldly characters plucked from the unconscious of a mad Viking. Rows of humanoid pillars crosshatched by rock strata look almost intentional but perfectly surreal. So silent, eerie and beautiful. So improbable it has to be true.
San Francisco is one of those cities that needs no introduction; like Hollywood and New York, this city already enjoys international renown for everything from sightseeing to shopping to entertainment. Popular San Francisco attractions include fine museums, theatres and destination neighbourhoods like Chinatown, Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. One sure way to see the sights is to book a double-decker bus tour of the city, or cruise out to Alcatraz or over to see charming Sausalito and the giant redwoods of Muir Woods. Other favourite day trips can include a drive up to award-winning wineries in Napa and Sonoma.
