Itinerary

Day 1: UK - Catania area

Arrive in the Catania area, where you'll be transferred to your hotel. Toast to your holiday ahead with a welcome cocktail, before dinner and an overnight stay in Catania.

Day 2: Syracuse - Noto

Head to Syracuse, which is home to the most beautiful Greek colony on the island. Explore Ortigia, the baroque centre of Syracuse, before laying eyes upon the Temple of Minerva, the Fountain of Arethusa, the Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomie and the Ear of Dionysus. In the afternoon, set off to Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Baroque architecture.

Day 3: Catania - Cefalu

Depart for Catania and upon arrival, stroll around the historic centre, enjoy a spot of retail therapy, and savour a snack of typical Catania specialties - think arancino or brioches with ice cream or granita (depending on the season). Then you’ll continue on to visit the coastal gem that is Cefalù, before departing for the Palermo area.

Day 4: Palermo - Monreale

Take your own tour of Palermo to discover the city's rich history and artistic heritage, and its crown jewel, the Palermo Cathedral. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before departing for Monreale, to visit its Norman Cathedral - said to be the 'eighth wonder of the world'. Return to Palermo and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: Erice - Marsala - Sciacca/Selinunte

Today you’ll head for Erice, where you’ll get to enjoy a tour of the town before a tasting of almond paste desserts. After lunch, depart for Marsala on Sicily's western coast - known for its sweet wine. Explore a local winery with a tasting, and visit the historical centre before moving on to Sciacca, the fishing port on the southern coast most famous for its thermal baths, religious festivals, and ceramic production. From 6 April to 26 October 2024, the tour will include a visit to the Eastern Hill of Selinunte instead of Sciacca.

*If the road is closed, which will prevent you from reaching Erice, this destination will be replaced with a visit to Trapani.

Day 6: Agrigento and Piazza Armerina

Today, continue on to Agrigento to visit the breathtaking Valley of Temple, home to a numerous of near-perfectly preserved ancient temples and structures. You’ll then head to Piazza Armerina and enjoy an authentic Sicilian lunch, followed by a visit to the marvellous Roman Villa, famous for its mosaics.

Day 7: Mount Etna - Taormina

Take an excursion to Mount Etna (weather permitting) - the highest active volcano in Europe. Stop at the charming village of Zafferana Etnea, the 'City of Honey', where you'll get to savour a taste of the honey itself, before returning for lunch. Depart for Taormina in the afternoon, known as the 'Pearl of the Ionian Sea'. Explore the city at your own pace, browsing the boutique lace, jewellery and ceramic shops that line the narrow streets. Visit the nearby Greek-Roman theatre and enjoy a traditional dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel to spend the night.
