Explore the Best of South Florida at Your Own Pace
Get ready for the road trip of a lifetime as you journey from the energetic streets of Miami to the laid-back island paradise of Key West. This self-drive tour offers the freedom to explore the tropical beauty of the Florida Keys at your leisure. Whether you opt for the 5, 7, or 9-night tour, you’ll experience a seamless blend of vibrant city life, sun-soaked beaches, and the tranquil island atmosphere of the Keys.

Miami – The Gateway to the Sunshine State
Your adventure begins in Miami, where you’ll be welcomed by golden beaches, swaying palms, and a vibrant cultural scene. Depending on your chosen duration, you’ll spend 2, 3, or 4 nights in this dynamic city.

Start your day with a leisurely walk along the South Beach shoreline, where the sun glistens on the Atlantic and colourful lifeguard towers dot the sandy stretch. Wander through the Art Deco District, famous for its pastel-hued buildings and retro glamour. Grab a cocktail at one of the lively rooftop bars on Ocean Drive and watch the world go by.

For a taste of Miami’s cultural richness, explore Wynwood Walls, an open-air museum adorned with massive, colourful murals by internationally acclaimed artists. Stop by one of the hip cafés or breweries in the area to soak in the artsy vibe. Alternatively, head to Little Havana, where the scent of Cuban coffee fills the air. Sip on a strong Cafecito, watch locals play dominoes in Maximo Gomez Park, and enjoy live Latin music at one of the neighbourhood's iconic bars.

If you’re craving some water adventures, Miami offers plenty of options. Paddleboard or kayak in Biscayne Bay, or take a speedboat tour for a thrilling ride past celebrity mansions and the city skyline.

-Optional Activity:
Before heading to the Keys, take a detour to the Everglades Alligator Farm, located about an hour from Miami. Here, you can embark on a thrilling airboat ride through the vast wetlands. Glide across the river of grass at high speeds and spot alligators, turtles, and exotic birds along the way. The farm also offers educational shows, where you can learn more about Florida’s native wildlife.

Marathon – The Heart of the Florida Keys
Once you’ve soaked up the energy of Miami, it’s time to hit the road and head south. The Overseas Highway offers one of the most scenic drives in the world. As you wind your way through the Florida Keys, you’ll cross 42 bridges, with endless turquoise waters on either side, a true feast for the eyes.

You’ll spend 1 or 2 nights in Marathon, a charming, laid-back town that embodies the relaxed spirit of the Keys. One of the highlights of your stay is a visit to the Dolphin Research Centre (entry included). Here, you’ll get a unique opportunity to observe and learn about these intelligent and playful marine mammals. Watch the dolphins leap and spin during educational demonstrations, and if you’re feeling adventurous, consider booking a dolphin encounter or swim experience for an unforgettable interaction.

For a scenic stroll, head to the Old Seven Mile Bridge, a pedestrian-friendly stretch that offers spectacular ocean views. Walk or bike along this historic bridge and admire the vivid hues of the water, which seem to shift from sapphire to emerald under the Florida sun.

If you’re in the mood for beach time, Sombrero Beach is a local gem. Known for its soft, white sand and clear waters, it’s the perfect spot for swimming, snorkelling, or simply unwinding with a book. The calm, shallow waters make it an ideal beach for families and casual swimmers alike.

-Food Tip: For dinner, head to a waterfront restaurant and indulge in freshly caught seafood. Lobster, stone crab, and conch fritters are local specialties. Pair your meal with a tropical cocktail while watching the sun melt into the horizon, a true Keys experience.

Key West – The Southernmost Gem of the U.S.
The final stretch of your road trip takes you further south to Key West, the crown jewel of the Florida Keys. Known for its bohemian charm, colourful architecture, and laid-back vibe, Key West is where you’ll truly embrace island life. You’ll spend 2 or 3 nights in this tropical paradise.

Begin your Key West experience with a walk along Duval Street, the island’s main thoroughfare. Here, you’ll find lively bars, quaint boutiques, and art galleries. Pop into the legendary Sloppy Joe's, once frequented by Ernest Hemingway, for live music and a lively atmosphere.

No visit to Key West is complete without witnessing the iconic sunset at Mallory Square. Each evening, the square transforms into a festival of street performers, musicians, and vendors. Grab a drink, find a good spot, and watch the sun dip into the Gulf of Mexico - an unforgettable sight.

For a dose of history, tour the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, where the literary giant once lived and wrote. Wander through the lush gardens and meet the famous six-toed cats, direct descendants of Hemingway’s own feline companions.

If you’re craving beach time, head to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, known for its pristine beach and excellent snorkelling. The clear, shallow waters are teeming with tropical fish, making it a perfect spot for underwater exploration.

Optional Activities to Enhance Your Stay:
-Dolphin Watching Cruise: Embark on a scenic boat tour and spot playful dolphins in their natural habitat. The experience includes snorkeling and drinks, making it a perfect day on the water.
-Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise: End your trip with a magical sunset cruise. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, sip tropical cocktails from the open bar, and dance to live music as you sail into the evening.
