Day 1: Welcome to Iceland
Upon your arrival in Reykjavik, you’ll make your way to your hotel to settle in and relax. Day 2: Journey to Akureyri
The day begins as you meet your guide and group in Reykjavik at 9:00 AM. Leaving the city, you’ll travel north through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel to the small village of Borgarnes. From there, you’ll head towards Skagafjörður, a region renowned for its Icelandic horses. A visit to Glaumbær, a beautifully preserved turf farmhouse, offers a glimpse into Icelandic rural life and history.

The journey continues over the Öxnadalsheiði plateau, with dramatic landscapes accompanying you all the way to Akureyri, often called the 'Capital of the North'. Optional relaxation awaits at the Forest Lagoon, a hot spring surrounded by nature, for those who wish to unwind before settling in for the evening.

Optional bathing at Forest Lagoon after arrival in Akureyri (optional extra).

Day 3: Discover Lake Mývatn
Begin your day by exploring the natural wonders around Lake Mývatn, an area shaped by volcanic activity and teeming with biodiversity. On your way, you’ll stop at Goðafoss, the 'Waterfall of the Gods', a magnificent cascade steeped in historical significance.

Lake Mývatn’s attractions include the dramatic lava formations of Dimmuborgir, also known as the 'Dark Castles', and the peculiar pseudo-craters of Skútustaðagígar. You’ll also visit Grjótagjá, a lava cave with a thermal spring, and Námaskarð, a geothermal area with bubbling mud pools and hissing steam vents.

As the day progresses, the journey takes you to Dettifoss, Europe's second most powerful waterfall, and through the stark, otherworldly landscapes of Möðrudalsöræfi highlands. You’ll arrive in Egilsstaðir, a charming town in eastern Iceland, for the night.

‍Day 4: The East Fjords
From Egilsstaðir, you’ll venture into the East Fjords, a region of serene beauty characterized by rugged coastlines and steep cliffs. This area is home to quaint fishing villages, tranquil lakes, and Iceland’s only wild reindeer herds, descendants of a farming experiment abandoned long ago.

As you journey along this picturesque route, the quiet allure of the East Fjords provides a serene contrast to the dramatic landscapes of other regions. Your day concludes in Höfn, a seaside town known for its proximity to the magnificent Vatnajökull glacier.

Overnight stay in the fishing village Höfn - Berjaya Höfn Hotel or similar.

Day 5: Glacier Lagoon and the South Coast
Today’s journey begins with a visit to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where you’ll embark on an amphibian boat tour to glide among floating icebergs. Nearby, Diamond Beach dazzles with its sparkling ice fragments scattered along the black sands.

As you continue along the South Coast, you’ll explore the lush oasis of Skaftafell, situated at the foot of Öræfajökull, Iceland’s highest peak. Further along the journey, the striking black sand beach of Reynisfjara awaits, with its basalt columns and occasional sightings of puffins.

The day concludes with visits to the towering Skógafoss waterfall and the enchanting Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the cascading water for a unique perspective.

Overnight stay at Selfoss - Hotel Selfoss

Day 6: The Golden Circle
The tour's penultimate day takes you on a journey through the Golden Circle, beginning with the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, whose multi-tiered cascades are a sight to behold. Next, you’ll visit the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes, shooting hot water high into the air.

The final stop of the day is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. This site is also home to the Alþingi, Iceland’s ancient parliament, established in 930 and considered one of the world’s oldest.

Upon returning to Reykjavik, there’s an option for whale watching from the harbour, offering a chance to encounter marine life up close.
