Where is Elephant Hills?
The camps are situated in the Khao Sok National Park which is part of Southern Thailand’s largest stretch of primary rainforest in the Surat Thani province. The Elephant Camp, the main camp is located at the edge of the national park while the Rainforest Camp, the secondary camp is situated in the middle of the Cheow Larn Lake, a 165 km2 large lake in the heart of Khao Sok.
Despite being tucked away in the lush greens of the rainforest Elephant Hills is still in a prime location and can be reached from all major tourist destinations like Phuket, Khao Lak, Khanom, Krabi and even Koh Samui in just a few hours.
What Can You Do At Elephant Hills?
Elephant Hills offers four nature soft-adventure tours in and around the stunningly beautiful Khao Sok National Park. You can choose to stay for 2,3 or 4 days and expect your days to be filled with amazing adventure activities.
One of the highlights of your tour is the ethical Elephant Experience where you will get to meet the elephants at the natural elephant park. You will spend a couple of hours with our gentle giants where you can interact, feed and observe them in their natural habitat.
Apart from that you will explore the rainforest region which looks nothing short of Jurassic Park as part of the stunning canoe safari and jungle trek. You can also discover the hidden mangroves of Takuapa on the speedboat tour, taste delicacies at the local markets and go kayaking and swimming at Cheow Larn Lake.
After an adventurous day you will come back to the tranquil environment of the jungle camps where you get to unwind and relax in your luxury tent, enjoy a drink at the bar, indulge in a delicious Thai buffet or hang out and share stories with other explorers.
The Luxury Tents
Elephant Hills comprises two Luxury Tented Camps: The Elephant Camp and Rainforest Camp. While the setting and the activities on the schedule of both are entirely different, the standard of the tents of the luxury tents is equally high in both camps. All tents are equipped with proper, comfortable beds, wooden floors, electricity as well as an en-suite bathroom. (Note: Electricity at Rainforest Camp might be limited at times, since the camp is powered by solar and wind energy.) At either location all that separates you from the superb nature around you are mosquito nets, which ensure the entire tent is bug and insect proof – but all the fascinating sounds from your fascinating surroundings will sing you to sleep as well as wake you up in the morning
All bathrooms come with all amenities you might expect from a normal hotel room: Hot and cold water shower, western-style toilets, and Elephant Hills shampoo collection, and, at The Elephant Camp, they even include a hairdryer for you.
