My adventure to the Maldives started with an exceptional flight with Etihad Airways from London Heathrow. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and soon I found myself comfortably settled in my seat. Etihad’s renowned hospitality was evident from the moment I boarded, with attentive flight attendants, delicious in-flight meals, and a selection of entertainment that made the long flight enjoyable.
Seamless Transfer at Abu Dhabi
Upon landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport, I had a few hours before my connecting flight to Male. I had pre-booked access to the Etihad Lounge, which was a haven of relaxation. The lounge offered a quiet escape with luxurious seating, a delectable buffet, and a variety of beverages. After a refreshing shower and some rest, I was ready for the final leg of my journey.
Arrival at Male International Airport and Seaplane Transfer to Sun Siyam Vilu Reef
Arriving at Male International Airport, I was greeted by the warmth of the Maldivian sun and the friendly airport staff. The process for the seaplane transfer was straightforward. After a brief wait at the comfortable lounge, I boarded the seaplane for a scenic flight to Sun Siyam Vilu Reef. The aerial views of the Maldives’ turquoise waters and coral atolls were mesmerizing, setting the tone for the incredible experiences to come.
Sun Siyam Vilu Reef: A Tropical Paradise
Sun Siyam Vilu Reef welcomed me with its stunning overwater villas and vibrant coral reefs. My villa, perched over the clear blue lagoon, offered direct access to the water. Days here were filled with snorkelling among colourful fish, lounging by the beach, and enjoying the resort’s top-notch amenities. The highlight was undoubtedly the underwater exploration; the house reef was teeming with marine life, providing an unforgettable snorkelling experience.
Speedboat Transfer to Sun Siyam Iru Veli
Next, I embarked on a speedboat transfer to Sun Siyam Iru Veli. The journey itself was exhilarating, cruising over the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean. Iru Veli impressed me with its contemporary villas, each with a private pool. The resort’s dining options were diverse and exquisite, offering everything from Maldivian delicacies to international cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the sunset views from my villa’s deck, a perfect way to end each day.
Seaplane to Sun Siyam Iru Fushi via Male International Airport
Leaving Iru Veli, I took a seaplane back to Male International Airport for a brief stopover before heading to Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. This resort, located on a private island, was a blend of luxury and nature. The lush greenery and pristine beaches provided a serene backdrop to the elegant villas. I indulged in spa treatments that used traditional Maldivian techniques and spent my days exploring the island’s rich biodiversity.
Speedboat to Sun Siyam World
From Iru Fushi, a speedboat whisked me away to Sun Siyam World. This expansive resort was a playground of activities and relaxation. My days were packed with water sports, from kayaking to jet skiing, and evenings were spent dining at various on-site restaurants that offered global cuisines. The villa, with its spacious design and stunning ocean views, was a perfect retreat after a day full of adventures.
Seaplane & Speedboat to Sun Siyam Olhuveli
The next destination was Sun Siyam Olhuveli, reached via another seaplane & speedboat transfer. This resort had a family-friendly atmosphere with a plethora of activities for all ages. The highlight of my stay was the Sunset & Discover Dolphin Cruise. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we spotted playful dolphins leaping alongside the boat, a magical experience that encapsulated the beauty and wonder of the Maldives.
Farewell to Paradise: Speedboat Back to Male International Airport
As my trip drew to a close, I took a speedboat back to Male International Airport for my flight home. Reflecting on my journey, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible experiences and the warm hospitality I received at each Sun Siyam resort. The Maldives had truly lived up to its reputation as a paradise on Earth, and my adventure had been a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and adventure.
The Journey Home
The flight back with Etihad Airways was a comfortable end to an unforgettable trip. As I gazed out of the window at the receding islands, I knew that the memories of this Maldivian adventure would stay with me forever. The Maldives, with its breathtaking beauty and serene ambiance, had captured my heart, and I was already dreaming of my next visit to this tropical paradise.
